It is one of the incredible ice-covered peaks of the famous Cordillera Blanca. The total altitude of Nevado Mateo is 5,150 meters, and the ascent is considered technically easy. This trip is perfect as your first climbing experience since no technical skills are required.
ITINERARY: Day 1: Huaraz - Base Mateo 4700 masl - Summit Matthew 5150 masl - Base Camp - Huaraz: Pick up from the lodgings at 2:30 am and departure from Huaraz at 3.00 a.m. Approximately, heading north of Huaraz, arriving at Carhuaz, it deviates to enter the valley of Ulta - Olympic Point, reaching the Base at 4700 meters above sea level. After a brief stop to have breakfast, you leave for the summit of Mateo, passing through the moraine. This summit is 5150 meters high, from where you can have great panoramic view of the snowy peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, such as the Huascarán Sur, Chopicalqui, Contrahierbas, Ulta, among other snowfalls. Return to the Base, to take the transport that will take us to Huaraz.
Lake Parón is one of the most beautiful lake where you can enjoy the nature sorrounded by mountains like huaydoy, chacraraju, piramide, paron, caraz and aguja. in the route we will pass for many towns of the Callejon de Huaylas like Tarica, Anta, Carhuaz, Yungay, Caraz, etc. and finally we will visit the principal atractive that is lake Paron.

The Huayhuash trek on the mountain range is one of the most beautiful treks in the world – and it’s easy to believe. The villages Pocpa and Llamac are usually the trailheads for this trek. The entire length of the Cordillera Huayhuash ranges only 30 km but within its compact area lays amazing towering peaks. At almost every turn, you come face to face with glistening vertical walls of ice, snow and rock. Beautiful lakes, different kinds of birds and keep an eye out for the massive Andean Condors and for Siula Grande 6,344 m.s.n.m , the site where the popular book and motion picture “Touching the Void” took place! Entrance Fee: Camping fees (This varies per year, please ask current rate, approx. 260 soles Maximum altitude: 5200 Meters (Santa Rosa pass). Location: Cordillera Huayhuash. A private car will pick you up at ~3AM from your hotel. After a 2h30 drive, you will reach the trailhead in Punta Olimpica. At the first sunrise lights, you will start hiking with our certified mountain guide for 1h on steep moraine rocks, then 1h30 on glacier with crampons and safety rope. You will finally summit the Mateo glacier at 5150m shortly after sunrise!! After enjoying the peak, you will descend for ~1h30 and drive back to Huaraz, arriving around 12AM-1PM.
