One of the world’s largest department stores was built on Herald Square in 1901. It is a very busy place with many visitors every day. You can easily spend the whole day browsing the shops. There are shops focusing on e.g. cosmetics, cookware, furniture, candy or gadgets. And, obviously, there are many shops carrying fashion (e.g. Ralph Lauren or Calvin Klein).
The department store comes into focus mainly during the Christmas period with its traditional shopping window installations. Macy’s also organises the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade which is always broadcasted on TV and it is an essential part of Thanksgiving.
