The first stop is at Monte Palace Tropical Garden, which impresses with its beauty, diversity of culture, as well as, traces of the history of Portugal since the reign of D. Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal. The Monte Palace Madeira occupies an area of 70.000 square meters and houses a huge exotic plant’s collection, coming from all over the world, together with swans and duck’s, that populates the central lake, peacocks and chickens, that walk free in the main areas of the property. The tour ends in the botanical garden, founded in 1960 by a Madeiran Botanical, here we can find more than 2500 species of plants, from different parts in the world all brought together in the Garden of the Atlantic.

Private Botanical Garden Tour

The Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens on Madeira, with marvelous views overlooking the city of Funchal. Located on the Bom Sucesso Estate, the gardens and property date from 1881 and were created by the Reid family as a private park. Today the property is open to the public, hosting many international visitors daily. The gardens cover an area of 80,000 square meters and are home to a fascinating collection of plants. On the drive up the hill with your guide, you can enjoy magnificent views over the city. Once up in the Botanical Garden, your guide will provide you with enough time to visit the gardens, with admission tickets paid separately. In addition to all these attractions, the Botanical Garden also has a Museum of Natural History. On the way down from the garden you will be able to visit a variety of landmarks from different centuries, including the 15th century cathedral and the Municipal Square where the City Hall and the Jesuit Monastery are found.

Gardens, Embroidery and Market

This tour starts at the Botanical Garden. Then we go to the Palheiro Gardens. After the visit, we proceed to the city of Funchal where we will visit an Embroidery Factory, and finally the famous Mercado dos Lavradores. On January 1st and December 25th there are no excursions.
