The congresses of the Nazi party were held annually in the month of September and each had a particular motto, which was given according to the historical events of the time. Since Nuremberg was chosen as the venue for the congresses, the work of this complex began, which was on the outskirts of the city and had the Zeppelin Field as the epicenter of the great events. Here stood the tribune from which Hitler delivered his speeches. In the vicinity was located the so-called Coliseum, a pavilion that intended to imitate the Roman building. Due to the beginning of the contest, it was never finalized. Near this place was also the Field of Mars, in which military games were used to exalt the combative spirit and harangue the ranks. The whole space of the propaganda project was connected to a Grand Avenue that led to the different buildings and that should serve for the realization of the great military parades.

This area of 4 square miles was intended to be an impressive backdrop for the Nazi party rallies and serve to demonstrate their power not only to Germany but to the entire world. On this private walking tour, I take you through the Old Town where over 1,000 years of history are still visible in the walls, churches, and alleys. We start at the Old Town Hall, walk through medieval lanes and across bridges that are over 500 years old, past Gothic churches among the oldest in Germany, and end at the Imperial Castle with a panoramic view over the entire city. I am a historian based in Nuremberg. Instead of listing facts, I connect each place to the people who shaped it: emperors at the castle, merchants at the market, and Dürer who made this city famous across Europe. I also show you what survived the destruction of 1945 and where the line between original and reconstruction runs today. The tour is private. You set the pace and the focus.
